I just wanted to mention to you how outstanding I think it is that the Highlands Literacy
Program is such a bright shining star in our community. It is quite impressive to see how
far Breta Stroud has taken the program over the years and has even seen to it that 2008
has been proclaimed as the YEAR OF LITERACY in Highlands . I also am very excited
that the program has been mentioned in John Corcoram’s new book that the program is
an exemplary literacy program.
Before Breta came along, as a teacher at Highlands School , I had no idea all of the
programs that are offered through the literacy council. It is outstanding to me all of the
things that she has accomplished for the young and old in our little mountain town. I just
wanted to let you know how thankful I am for all of you and the wonderful services that
are available to us. Thank you to all of you for all that you do/
